Patrick Wales-Dinan, a native of Duxbury, VT, graduated from Milton Academy (MA) before earning his B.A. in Economics from Bates College in Lewiston, ME, in 2005. During his time at Bates, he was a two-time All-New England runner, a state champion in the 800m, and a member of the 2004 NCAA Championship cross-country team.

Following graduation, Wales-Dinan began his coaching career at Traip Academy in Kittery, ME, where he served as head coach for cross-country, indoor, and outdoor track from 2005 to 2008. Under his leadership, athletes qualified for the NSIC meet in New York, and his cross-country teams earned back-to-back top-five state finishes.
In 2008–09, he joined the University of Southern Maine as **** istant coach for women’s cross-country and track. There, he contributed to the Huskies’ ninth consecutive LEC and Alliance League **** les and also directed the 2008 Maine State Cross-Country Championships.
