‘We had the strength and the will’: Australia acquiring missiles and submarines

Shadow Foreign Minister Simon Birmingham says the former Morrison government had the “strength and the will" to make "difficult decisions” after acquiring tomahawk missiles and nuclear submarines through the AUKUS deal.
“We made clear that it was important for Australia to be securing more long-ranged strike capability, to be able to project power further in defence of Australia,” he told Sky News Australia.
“The decision we made to change, tag and pursue nuclear-powered submarines 18 months ago is probably not one Labor would have been able to make at that point,” Mr Birmingham said.
